Senior Front-End Web Developer

Rover.com is a place where dog owners can find and book dog sitters in their area. We help owners find quality sitters and facilitate the entire experience, so dog owners can comfortably travel without worry about the well-being of their furry family members. We are a rapidly growing and well-financed startup founded and based in downtown Seattle.

We're looking for an experienced frontend engineer who wants to have a voice in the future of our frontend architecture. We have been working hard to lay the groundwork of a modern frontend, and we’re looking for someone who can help us propel that forward. On a daily basis, we make decisions about new frameworks, libraries, tools, software architecture patterns, best practices, UI design, and so on. If playing a leading role in such decisions sounds like your cup of tea, then Rover is the place for you.

Our style:

  • Dogs in the office. Bring yours, too!
  • Lightweight, Agile processes constantly improved with retrospectives
  • Fully automated testing and deployment system. Just merge your branch and it ships.
  • Integrated teams with developers and designers work side-by-side
  • Data-driven decision making with A/B testing
  • Styleguide-driven development

Our tools:

  • JavaScript (ES2015+ with Babel)
  • Vue.js, Vuex (migrating towards)
  • Backbone.js (migrating away from)
  • Webpack
  • HTML5, Pug/Jade
  • SCSS
  • Karma+Jasmine
  • Nightwatch.js
  • NPM/Yarn
  • ESLint (airbnb config)

Why we’ll hire you:

  • You have experience using our tools or similar ones, such as ReactJS
  • You’re a great developer who wants to get even better
  • You play nicely with others
  • You can take loose requirements, figure out what needs to be done, and make it happen
  • You can produce quality code the first time around including unit tests
  • You can pitch your own ideas and shepherd them through to completion
  • You know when to call it ‘good enough’ and ship, and when to put in the extra time to polish
  • You are familiar with current best practices and have a desire to help others learn
  • You want to have a voice in the software design and architecture process
  • You keep up on the latest frontend technologies and trends
  • Bonus: Python/Django experience

If you’re up for all of this and ready to hang out with a bunch of dogs, give us a shout. We’re excited to hear from you!
